GUI MINHAI, 2021
On October 17th 2015, Swedish citizen Gui Minhai was disappeared from his holiday home in Thailand. At the time, he ran a publishing house and bookstore Causeway Bay Books in Hong Kong. Both the publisher and the bookstore were known for publishing and selling books critical of the Chinese regime, many of which are banned in China.
Gui was arrested a second time in 2018, while attempting to visit Bejing together with two Swedish diplomats, and has not been allowed to have contact with his family or his legal representatives since then. In February 2020, Chinese authorities announced that Gui Minhai had been sentenced to 10 years in prison, without accessing a fair trial.
The film above was an attempt to raise awareness and call attention to his case 5 years after he was detained, and demand his immediate release. The film was recorded and screened during the pandemic. It collaged poets and activists, including Gui's daughter Angela, reading an excerpt of a poem written by Gui with films of us writing his poems on main walking paths in Stockholm.

DAWIT ISAAK, 2021
The Swedish-Eritrean journalist and writer Dawit Isaak was arrested in Eritrea in 2001 in a crackdown on all free media and all political opposition. 23 years later, President Isaias Afwerki remains in power, and Dawit and the other prisoners are still missing.
Dawit never got a fair trial. His family does not know where he is or how he is doing. 2021 we ran a campaign to highlight that despite 20 years having past, our attempts to get Dawit home will not stop.
You can find more information about Dawit here.

DÖDSSTRAFFSRAPPORTEN 2019 / DEATH PENALTY REPORT 2019, 2020
Every year, Amnesty International puts together a report on the current state of the death penalty in the world. In 2019, the recorded cases were the lowest in a decade. Still at least 657 executions took place in 20 countries. I worked on the graphics and presentation of the report to a Swedish audience. In 2023, the report however recorded the highest number of executions in almost decade: 1153 across 14 countries, with an increase in executions in countries in the Middle East. These numbers are not including the thousands of executions that have likely taken place every year in China.
You can find the full page and report from 2019 here.
